CAROLYN SPIRE SPI470
HER POEMS AND HER CIRCLE. This account of Mrs. Spire was written by her friend, Betsey Jane Rieley, afterwards the wife of Daniel Keevil, minister. Of Mrs. Keevil, Mr. J>H> Gosden wrote: "..... A member since l948 of Salem, Birmingham, (formerly, since 1870- of Rehoboth, Coventry),(she) died on the 24th. January, (l948) aged 93. She was favoured with very clear teaching in her soul, the Lord beginning to deal with her when she was but thirteen years of age. A considerable account of those early exercises appeared in our pages in 1875, under the title: 'The Experience of a Factory Girl.' Her religion remained 'green' to the end, and was marked throiughout by a solemn gravity, yet withal a tender love for the least evidence of grace in others. She was truly a 'Mother in Israel'..... We personally have a sense of desolation by the death of yet another faithful praying friend... "
