The Rev. Stephen Farrar, a graduate of Harvard College, was the first pastor of New Ipswich, New Hampshire, where he ministered for half a century. He commenced preaching in 1758 before the age 21 and labored as New Ipswich's only pastor until his death in 1809. Shortly after being ordained in 1760, he assisted in organizing the church and drew up its covenant.
