ALEXANDER PEDEN PROPHET OF COVENANT, JOHNSTON, J- Although Alexander Peden (1626-1686) is one of the enigmatic characters of the story of the Scottish Covenanters, he is one of the most exciting. His life exemplifies many qualities which speak to us today; it is possible to be contending and controversial, yet display deep spirituality. He was ordained minister of Glenluce about 1658 and was ejected in 1662. He became a great field-preacher in Ireland as well as in Scotland.
