MARY HONES AND HER BIBLE xxx033
MARY JONES AND HER BIBLE, CARTER, M- It was in the spring of 1800 that an unknown Welsh girl set out barefooted from her home to walk to Bala, a distance of twenty-five miles. The purpose of her journey was to buy a Bible for which she had been saving up for several years. Thomas Charles of Bala was so impressed by Mary Jones' love for the Word of God, and so grieved because of its scarcity in the Welsh language, that he had no rest till a society was formed for the printing of Bibles. How thankful we should be that today the Bible is so readily available in our native tongue! 100 pp.
